Hi, I'm Natalie
For more than fifteen years I have worked as a child and adolescent psychologist, guiding children, teens and families. Behind every behaviour there is a story, and behind every question a longing for connection.
People sometimes think my work is mostly about screens and gaming. But my work is not, first of all, about technology. It goes about people. About how children grow. About how relationships shape us. And about what children need to grow into who they truly are.
Children today grow up in a world no generation before them has known. A world in which technology constantly asks for our attention. As a result, something that once felt self-evident becomes ever more precious: being truly present. With yourself. With one another. In the moment.
The digital world is now inseparable from the lives of children and young people. It shapes how they learn, play, relax, communicate and discover themselves. It offers tremendous possibilities, but also brings new questions and challenges for families.
As a psychologist I often notice that conversations about screen time, gaming or social media are rarely just about screens. They are about connection. About a longing for closeness, calm and understanding one another in a world that seems to spin ever faster.
This theme touches me personally too. Like so many parents and adults, I notice how easily we get pulled into a world that constantly demands our attention.
With Screen & Self I want to help families make space again for what truly matters: connection. Not out of fear of technology, but out of trust that children and young people flourish most when they feel safe, seen and connected.
